New Delhi. An example of how prepared Delhi Police is for the security of foreign guests in the country’s capital and the crimes committed against them, was seen in the Kashmiri Gate area. Delhi’s Kashmere Gate police station has solved the mystery of a major theft involving an Iranian woman in just a few hours. The purse of an Iranian woman who came to Delhi from Rishikesh was missing in the bus. The bus driver later called the Iranian woman and gave her her purse. But in the meantime, within 10 to 15 minutes, the helper of the bus found that 1600 US dollars, which is Rs 1.35 lakh in Indian currency, was missing from the purse. But Delhi Police has cleverly recovered it. Read how this woman got the money back.
Delhi University professor Dr Ali Akbar Shah lodged a complaint at ISBT Kashmiri Gate police post. Dr. Shah told that one of his guests, who is a citizen of Iran, whose name is Ms. Farishte Sayanjali. She came to visit India with her friends on 13 December. She was staying at Dr. Shah’s residence in Mukherjee Nagar. She had gone to Uttarakhand for sightseeing and returned to Delhi on 15 December by ‘Flixbus’. When she got off the bus at Kashmiri Gate ISBT around 1:45 pm, she forgot her purse on the bus seat in her haste.
Pretense of honesty and flawed intentions
After some time, a call came from the bus operator that her purse was left in the bus. The angel was relieved to hear this, but when he got the purse back he was shocked. 1600 US dollars kept in the purse were missing. This incident with the foreign guest created a stir in the police department. On the statement of Dr. Ali Akbar Shah, FIR number 922/25 was registered under Section 305 (B) of BNS at Police Station Kashmiri Gate and investigation started.

Police team and ‘Midnight Raid’ As per the instructions of North District DCP Raja Banthia, a special team was formed under the leadership of SHO Prashant Yadav of Kashmiri Gate police station, which included HC Mukesh, HC Shishram and Constable Bablesh. ACP Shankar Banerjee was monitoring the team. The police team immediately called the driver and conductor of that Flixbus for questioning. The conductor told that helper Monish had picked up the purse lying unclaimed on the seat and handed it over to him.
Delhi Police made such recovery
When the police started interrogating 26-year-old helper Monish, initially he tried to mislead the police. He claimed that he had received the purse exactly as he had given it to the conductor. But when the police strictly interrogated him and put psychological pressure on him, he broke down. He admitted that he had taken out the dollars before returning the purse. On the behest of Monish, the police raided his house in Jahangirpuri on the midnight of 15-16 December and recovered the entire stolen $1600.

Profile of the accused: The arrested accused Monish is a resident of Jahangirpuri and was working as a helper in Flixbus for the last one year. He has studied only till 10th class and out of greed, he stole the foreign guest’s money.

Iranian citizen Farishte Sayanjali expressed his gratitude to Delhi Police after getting his money back. DCP Raja Banthiya, while praising the team, said that the safety of foreign nationals is our priority and a policy of zero tolerance is adopted in such cases. This incident has once again proved that no matter how vicious a criminal is, he cannot escape the eyes of Delhi Police.
