The process of SIR in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh is almost complete. Its fixed deadline was extended twice by the Election Commission. Earlier it was till 6th December, which was extended till 11th December and then till 18th December. Despite this, about 80 thousand people in the district have been deprived of the SIR process. However, Deputy District Election Officer Sunil Nayak said that even after the due date, if any voter submits the required documents, then his SIR will be done by the competent authority. In this regard, Local 18 talked to Deputy District Election Officer Sunil Nayak. See this report…
SIR deadline extended twice
Deputy District Election Officer Sunil Nayak said that the Election Commission had earlier fixed the limit for special summary revision till December 6, which was later extended to December 11 and then to December 18. Despite this, a large number of voters could not submit the counting forms. However, as per the instructions of the Commission, even after the deadline, the competent authorities can complete the process of SIR by taking the documents.
Know how many voters in the district, how many are left
Deputy District Election Officer Sunil Nayak said that a total of about 6 lakh 74 thousand voters were registered in 782 polling stations of Surguja district. Counting forms were distributed to all voters. But out of these, about 80 thousand voters have not yet submitted their counting forms.
Why 80 thousand voters remained out, know the reason
According to the Deputy District Election Officer, many categories are included in these 80 thousand voters. There are more than 18 thousand dead voters among them. Apart from this, there are a large number of people who have permanently shifted to other places. At the same time, many voters were not found available at home, who have been kept in ‘absent’ category.
Know the reason for double entry
Officials said that in some cases, double entry has also come to light. Due to the name of the same voter being registered at two different places, the counting form was submitted at one place, while it could not be done at the other place.
Administration’s stand on the reason for disappearance from SIR
Deputy District Election Officer Sunil Nayak clarified that it cannot be said yet that voters were absent due to SIR. Voters are not found at their place of residence due to marriage, employment or other reasons. The situation will become more clear after the publication of the preliminary voter list and claims and objections.
You will get a chance for improvement in claims and objections, know how
The administration said that voters whose SIR has not been made can complete the process of name addition, deletion or amendment by giving an affidavit along with Form-6, Form-7 and Form-8 during the claim-objection period or even after that.
Compulsory proof of residence since 2003….
Under SIR, it is mandatory for voters to provide residential details of their parents or grandparents as of 2003. Officials say that until the correct information about the old residence is not available, the administration will not be in a position to provide full help.
At present there is no suspicious voter.
The Deputy District Election Officer said that in the process so far, no suspicious voters have come to light in the district. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, the work is going on continuously and after the claim objection, the picture will become completely clear.
