Many government and private steel plants in the country have increased oxygen production capacity. (Nominal picture)
Following the Centre’s order, steel plants have doubled their oxygen production and oxygen production capacity. A week ago, the country’s steel plants were supplying up to 1700 metric tons of oxygen to the states. Right now these plants have started producing medical oxygen by reducing the production of nitrogen and aragon.
These measures increased oxygen supply
Following the Central Government’s order, these plants have doubled their capacity to produce and supply oxygen. A week ago, these plants were supplying only 1500 to 1700 metric tons of oxygen to the states. To overcome the shortage of oxygen in hospitals, these plants started producing only liquid medical oxygen by reducing the production of nitrogen and aragon. Not only this, in the steel plants, the stock of liquid medical oxygen for 3 and half days is kept for safety and need, which has been reduced to just 0.5 days to increase the availability of oxygen in hospitals.

According to the DPIIT directive, steel plants have converted nitrogen and ergon tankers into liquid medical oxygen tankers to supply oxygen to the states faster. If you look at the latest data, 765 nitrogen with a capacity of 8345 MT and 434 Ergon tanker with a capacity of 7642 MT have been converted into liquid medical oxygen. Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization has given permission to change tankers. Necessary changes have been made in 1,172 tankers with a capacity of 15,900 metric tons for the supply of liquid medical oxygen to the states. Bhilai Steel Plant is also doing better in this episode.
