Faridabad and Gurugram are again in the grip of poisonous air today. AQI of Sector 16A is 457 and situation is serious in many areas. Smog, smoke and increasing pollution are making people’s breathing difficult. Masks have become necessary and going out a challenge. Every winter the wind is repeating this bitter truth.
Faridabad: The air of Faridabad and Gurugram today again reminds us of the bitter reality that we feel every winter; even breathing has become a challenge. Since morning, a thick layer of fog was seen floating in the sky and faces of people walking on the road were seen covered with masks and dupattas. There is a strange suffocation in the air which clearly shows that the situation is serious.
How is the air of Faridabad
At present the air quality in Faridabad is changing significantly in different areas. Sector 16A was the most affected today where AQI 457 was recorded. This level falls in the category of serious and has a direct impact on health. This is a very dangerous situation for children, elderly and people suffering from respiratory diseases. The overall average AQI of the city was also 349, which is a matter of concern. In many areas, people are thinking twice before going out because even light exercise or walking is causing heartburn and cough.
Not even the situation in Gurugram
The situation in Gurugram is also no better than this. The AQI here today was between 214 to 435, that is, at some places the air was very bad and at some places it reached critical levels. There was a big difference in air quality according to sectors also. AQI 184 (PM2.5) was recorded in Sector 51 which falls in the poor category. The situation in Sector 49 was even more worrying where AQI reached 352. People are coming to the parks less for morning walks and those who do come return within a short time complaining of breathlessness.
Stubble also causes polluted air
The effect of dust, smoke and industrial pollution is clearly visible in the air. Both Faridabad and Gurugram are fast growing cities and the number of vehicles on the roads is continuously increasing. Along with this, the air is continuously getting worse due to construction work in both the districts and burning of stubble in the surrounding areas.

Now there is a need for people to remain alert themselves. Wear a mask while going out, avoid exercising in open air in the morning and evening and use air purifiers at home. The government and administration will also have to take strict steps to control pollution. Unless collective efforts are made, our breathing will continue to become heavy every winter.
