Amethi News: The menace of stray dogs is increasing in Amethi district of UP. Every day hundreds of people are reaching the hospital after becoming victims of dog bites and rabies. The situation is bad in all the blocks, but the municipality and the animal department do not have any concrete system of control.
Amethi: These days the menace of stray dogs is increasing rapidly in Amethi district of UP. The number of stray dogs is continuously increasing in every street and locality from the city to the rural areas. The situation has become such that among the patients coming to hospitals for treatment every day, the number of victims of dog bites and rabies has become more than that of other diseases. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of panic among the common people and people are feeling unsafe.
The same situation is being seen in almost all the blocks and tehsils of the district. Be it roads or village streets, groups of stray dogs are seen roaming everywhere. Local people say that the owners have control over the pet dogs, but the stray dogs roaming on the streets have become completely aggressive. In many cases, children, elderly people and people walking on the road are suddenly attacked, causing serious injuries.
According to the data of the Health Department, every day hundreds of people in Amethi district are reaching the hospital for treatment after being bitten by dogs. Especially the maximum number of cases are being reported in Shukul Bazar block. The situation is such that people have become afraid of sending their children out alone and as the evening approaches, there is silence on the streets.
On this entire matter, Chief Medical Officer of Amethi, Dr. Anshuman Singh said that rabies injections have been made available in all the community health centres, primary health centers and district hospitals of the district, so that no patient faces any problem in treatment. He said that veterinary department and other related departments are also being continuously contacted for a permanent solution to the problem.
However, the most surprising thing is that no department has a concrete control system regarding stray dogs in Amethi district. Neither the municipality, nor the Nagar Panchayat, nor the veterinary department have any effective plan to catch them, sterilize them or control their numbers. It is alleged that the entire exercise is limited to papers only, while the situation at the ground level is worsening day by day.
Local people have demanded from the district administration that concrete steps should be taken to control stray dogs as soon as possible, so that the common people can get relief from this increasing threat.
