Emergency Situation Ministry via AP Hospital in Ukraine
A fire in a private nursing home in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv killed 15 people and injured 11 others.

It was told that about 11 people were also injured in this incident. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky called the incident a “terrible tragedy” and said that 33 people were in the building at the time of the fire. Photographs released by the emergency services showed smoke coming out of the lattice windows on the second floor of the building.
Zelensky confirmed 15 deaths reported by emergency services. He said that ‘we all pray that there will be no more’. Immediately after the fire, it was not clear how many people were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
9 people shiftedEmergency services said nine people were admitted to nearby hospitals, while an officer Irina Vednyatkova said 11 people were injured. He said that the officer may have started a fire due to misuse of electric heater, whose investigation is on.
Earlier, in Ukraine in December 2019, 16 people were killed and 30 others were injured in a fire at an educational institution in the Black Sea city of Odessa. Later the director of the institute was arrested on charges of negligence. In August the same year, nine people died in a fire in a hotel in Odessa.
