Tata Motors reported that the next 7-seater version of the Harrier has been named Safari (Tata Safari). The company said that its codename was Gravitas. Tata Safari will be available in showrooms in January 2021, the same month.
Mahindra XUV500 will compete directly with Creta
The Safari will be a car based on Tata Motors’ Impact 2.0 design language. In this, the company is using the OMEGARC platform. The styling of the Safari can remain similar to its pre-production model, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 under the name of Gravitas. The Tata Safari will compete with the Mahindra XUV500, the seven-seater Hyundai Creta, MG Hector Plus and the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Tata’s new Safari is expected to have a 2.0-liter cryotech diesel engine. It is also expected to get a 4 cylinder diesel engine, which generates power of 170 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. Also, there can be 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox. The company has also said that it will also offer a 1.5 liter direct injection 4 cylinder turbo petrol unit. Its power output can be up to 150 PS. With this, it can also have a DCT gearbox.

Interior and exterior can be like Harrier
It is being told that the dashboard of Safari will be like Harrier. The SUV will have a floating touchscreen infotainment system, which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The front-end of the re-launch Safari will be like a Harrier. Some changes can be seen in the remaining half. The SUV will have a stepped roof. Also, new designed alloy wheels can also be made available.
