Football king Lionel Messi enjoyed a special four-day visit to Hyderabad. He was given a royal welcome at the Taj Falaknuma Palace, where he tasted traditional Hyderabadi starters, royal desserts and the famous Irani tea. For Messi, every dish was first tasted by the hotel’s hygiene manager, so that he got not only delicious but also completely safe food.
Lionel Messi, known as the uncrowned king of the football world, had come to India on a special tour of four days. When Messi reached Hyderabad, the city of Nawabs, on Saturday, 13 December, he was welcomed like a Sultan. Messi stayed at the city’s historic and luxurious Taj Falaknuma Palace, where he was served a grand feast consisting of traditional Hyderabadi cuisine.
Keeping in mind the safety and health of an international legend like Messi, the Taj Falaknuma administration had made special arrangements. Before any dish was served to Messi, it was tasted by the hotel’s hygiene manager. The purpose of this process was to ensure that the food was not only delicious, but also completely safe and to the highest standards.

A famous starter of Hyderabad, it is a square samosa filled with minced mutton, which has a very crispy and flaky exterior. It is often served at weddings and feasts.

Irani Tea Osmania Biscuit
A signature of Hyderabad, this tea is known for its creamy texture. It is made by boiling milk and tea leaves for different hours and finally mixed with condensed milk. Osmania Biscuit, the best companion to Irani tea, is named after the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Osman Ali Khan.
