Gardening Tips: As the effect of cold is increasing in the capital Raipur, enthusiasm for gardening is also being seen rapidly in the city. During the winter season, people start decorating the balconies, terraces and kitchen gardens of their homes with lush green plants. Meanwhile, the city’s well-known gardening expert Devendra Dhivar has given a very useful advice, which can prove beneficial especially for the lovers of fruit plants. He told that in this cold season, it is very appropriate to plant an orange plant in a pot, and the special thing is that the climate of Chhattisgarh is considered quite favorable for growing oranges like Nagpur.
Correct proportion of Neem cake
According to expert Devendra Dhiwar, orange can be easily grown in a pot, provided the soil mixture is prepared properly. He told that while preparing the pot, soil, vermicompost, neem cake and mustard cake should be mixed in the right proportion. This provides nutrition to the plant in the initial days and speeds up the growth of its roots. The size of the pot for an orange plant should be 18 to 20 inches, so that the roots of the plant can get enough space to spread.
Gardening expert said that orange is a delicate fruit plant, which requires regular care. If symptoms of fungus are seen in the plant such as blackening of leaves, white layer forming or spots on the stems, then it is necessary to spray the medicine immediately. For this, solutions like Attack 550, Roger and Sonata can be mixed and sprayed. This mixture protects the plant from fungal diseases and keeps its growth healthy.
Regarding watering the orange plant, Dhivar said that it should be given light irrigation at an interval of two to three days. Excess water can rot the roots of the plant, while less water stunts its growth. Therefore balanced irrigation is the key to successful fruiting. Orange plant usually grows up to 7 to 8 feet and starts bearing fruits after about one to one and a half years of planting. If the plant gets adequate sunlight, regular fertilizer and proper spraying of medicines, then the orange grown in a pot can be as tasty and juicy as the famous orange of Nagpur.
The trend of growing fruit plants in pots is increasing in Raipur and experts believe that this trend will become stronger in the future. In such a situation, if you want to make your home garden a little special, then definitely plant an orange tree this winter. This will not only enhance the beauty of your home, but within a few months you will also get the taste of fresh, homemade and completely natural oranges.
