In the BALLB first year examination, after the paper was conducted with the old question paper, it was canceled after ten days. Angered by the decision of re-examination, the students surrounded the Dean’s office and protested fiercely.
Aligarh: A case of serious negligence has come to light in the Law Faculty of Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh. The Law Department has been accused of conducting the examination after handing over the question paper of the previous academic session 2024-25 to the students. Ten days later, the students got enraged by the decision to cancel the paper and conduct the examination again and started protesting. The students allege that on December 4, the examination for the first year legal method subject of BALLB was conducted. In this examination, the question paper of last year 2024-25 was given to the students by the staff of the Law Department. This mistake was not caught at any stage during the examination and students solved the paper in the stipulated time.
Paper canceled after ten days
After the matter came to light, on December 13, the Law Department of Aligarh Muslim University issued a notice to the students informing them about the cancellation of the examination. It was told in the notice that the said paper is being canceled due to technical reasons and its examination will be conducted again. As soon as this decision came out, anger spread among the students.
Notice of re-examination on 22 December
In the notice issued by the Law Department, December 22 was fixed as the date for re-examination of the canceled papers. Students say that the decision to suddenly cancel the paper ten days after the exam and then conduct the exam again is unfair. The students clearly said that they will not give the same paper again on 22nd December.
Students protest and uproar
In protest against the decision to cancel the paper and re-conduct the examination, BALLB first year students surrounded the Dean’s office of the Law Department and created a ruckus. The students raised slogans against the administration and demanded action against the officials responsible for the negligence.
Major demands of students
Students say that the mistake has happened at the departmental level, the consequences of which they should not have to bear. Their argument is that the examination was conducted peacefully, hence canceling it is playing with the future of the students. The students have demanded either to validate the paper or to find a fresh alternative solution.
Questions raised on university administration
This entire matter has raised questions on the examination system of Aligarh Muslim University. The students allege that if the mistake had been caught in time, this situation would not have arisen. At present, efforts are being made by the administration to convince the students, but the students are adamant on their decision.
