Ayurvedic Treatment for gas bloating: With the arrival of winter, problems related to bloating, gas, indigestion, constipation etc. increase. All this increases the irritation in the mind. Actually, as the temperature decreases, many changes start taking place in the body. Its biggest impact is on digestion. In this, metabolism starts slowing down. Due to this, many stomach related problems start occurring and weakness, fatigue and laziness start filling the body. There is excellent treatment for all these in Ayurveda. In Ayurveda it is called Agnibandh. In TOI, Ayurvedic expert Dr. Meenakshi Baisen has told the easy treatment of Agnibandh.
Vatta and Kapha doshas increase in winter.
Ayurvedic expert Dr. Meenakshi Bisen explains that Vata (air/sky) and Kapha (water/earth) doshas naturally increase during cold weather. Due to these, Agni i.e. digestive power can become weak. Appetite increases in cold but eating in the wrong way increases lethargy, gas and indigestion and toxic elements accumulated in the body. In such a situation, it is common for intestinal health to become weak. Therefore, Ayurveda is said to pay attention to such food habits and habits which are hot in nature and easily digestible. In other words, winter is not just the season of soups and shawls but a time to consciously nourish the digestive system. Then what to do?
what to do then
Dr. Meenakshi Bisen says that cold water or food items with cold effect weakens Agni i.e. the digestive system. Therefore, the first thing to do is not to eat or drink things with cold effect. Whereas hot drinks help in igniting the digestive fire and expelling the toxins. Therefore, eat and drink things with hot nature. A clinical study published in the European Journal of Nutrition also found that drinking very cold water reduces stomach contractions and reduces energy intake. Due to this, the digestion process is bound to slow down. Therefore, do not drink cold water in winter, drink lukewarm water. Now the question comes that what are the things that bring heat to the body.
hot stuff
According to Dr. Bisen, you should eat hot, cooked food during winter. Soups, stews and porridge are particularly good choices. Give preference to khichdi (made from rice and mung dal) in particular, as it is a complete, tridosha-satisfying and restorative food for the intestinal lining. Along with this, eat warming grains and vegetables. Eat cooked quinoa, brown rice, oats and seasonal root vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes with appropriate spices. Use ghee also. Ghee is considered to be the mediator of Agni which supports digestion and provides lubrication to the intestines without producing toxins. Make tea with cumin, coriander and fennel. This tea is considered extremely effective in increasing digestion and reducing gas after meals.
It is also important to avoid these things
Dr. Bisen has also advised to avoid some things because these things are cold, heavy and increase toxins. He told not to eat raw and cold food. Such as limit raw salads, cold smoothies and icy drinks. These directly suppress agni, which forces the body to spend extra energy to heat them. Avoid cold curd, hard cheese and ice cream in large quantities, especially at night. These increase phlegm and mucus, which can obstruct the digestive tract. Do not consume excessive yeast i.e. processed foods. These are heavy and require more energy to digest. Often fermentation increases in these, which leads to the formation of mango.
