Stock Market Today: The first trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Monday, November 17, started on a positive note. At the beginning of the trading day, both the major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the green.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 84,700.50 with a rise of 137.72 points or 0.16 per cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,948.20 with a rise of 38.15 points or 0.15 per cent.
By 9:22 am, the Sensex was trading at 84,762 points, up by 199 points, while the Nifty 50 was trading at 25,963 points, up by 53 points.

How was the market on Friday?
On Friday, November 14, there was a rise in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the green. Sensex ended the trading day at 84,562.78 points with a rise of 84.11 points or 0.10 percent, while NSE Nifty 50 recorded a rise of 30.90 points or 0.12 percent and ended the trading day at the level of 25,910.05.
Eternal, Trent, Axis Bank, SBIN and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, INFY, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra and Maruti were. Nifty Bank, Nifty Midcap, Nifty 50, Nifty 100 and Nifty Smallcap closed trading in the green.
At the same time, a decline was recorded in the shares of Nifty Next 50, Nifty Auto and Nifty IT. On Friday’s trading day, 18 shares from BSE basket closed on the green mark and 12 shares recorded a decline.
