Lucknow: Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra has made a scathing attack on Congress. He says that Congress forms alliance but does not follow the rules of alliance. At the same time, he has also given his reaction regarding the polygamy law of Assam government. Ravidas Mehrotra said while talking to IANS that during Bihar elections, Congress candidates had contested against RJD at 13 places. This tarnished the public image. In the year 2017, I was an MLA and a minister. I got the ticket. Then Rahul Gandhi was the national president of Congress. He did a road show with Akhilesh Yadav. Asked for votes for me but later fielded a candidate against me. The result in 2017 was that BJP’s Brijesh Pathak won the election, but our alliance was not formed in the year 2022. I again entered the fray and Brijesh Pathak contested from somewhere else instead of this constituency. This time I won.
Questions raised regarding India’s GDP
Giving advice to Congress, he said that it should first decide whether it will follow the rules or not. Ravidas Mehrotra said that SP is capable of forming the government alone in UP. We want that there should be no division of non-BJP votes, hence Congress should contest elections along with SP. Attacking the BJP on GDP, he said, “If GDP has increased by more than 8 percent, then why has purchasing power not increased? Why have people not got jobs? Why has inflation not decreased?”
Also commented on the decision on polygamy
The SP leader said that the poor are becoming poorer. He doesn’t have money to buy. Instead of providing jobs, people are being fired. BJP is misleading the country.” On the passing of the Polygamy Bill by the Assam government, SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra said that there should be one law in the entire country. If there is BJP government at the Centre, then why different laws in different states? The BJP government wants to divert the public from the main issues. No CM gives any statement on inflation, corruption, employment, education or health.
SP MLA also spoke on SIR election process
Congress leader Sandeep Dixit said that we have lost the elections due to the weakness of the organization. On this Ravidas Mehrotra said that they should strengthen the organization. In UP, SP is trying its best to ensure that no one’s name is left out in the SIR. No voter’s name should be deleted. He should have also made similar efforts. The BJP government is trying to delete the names of opposition voters from the voter list. She wants to win the elections by rigging and dishonesty.
