Kolkata: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has joined Tigers of Kolkata as co-owner and mentor ahead of the third season of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL). The next season of the league will be played in Surat from January 9 to February 6.
The T-10 tennis ball format of ISPL is related to street cricket. Its aim is to transform the potential of talented street level players into a sustainable and long-lasting cricketing journey. Ganguly said:
I am excited to start this new journey. Tennis ball cricket has always been close to the roots of the game. This foundation is very strong throughout Kolkata and especially in the East. My focus will be to help these players transform their natural ability into match-winning habits as well as create a clear path for progression. Growth requires clarity, trust and patience and I am glad to be part of a structure that values all three.
