Rahul Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi called the Election Commission’s SIR process a conspiracy. He expressed concern over the problems and deaths of citizens and BLOs on social media. Rahul Gandhi demanded transparency from the Election Commission and accused him of vote theft.
New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi attacked the Election Commission (ECI) over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and said that citizens are being deliberately harassed. The Congress MP wrote on ‘X’ on Sunday, “There is chaos across the country in the name of SIR – Result? 16 BLOs lost their lives in three weeks. Heart attacks, stress, suicide – SIR is not a reform, it is an imposed oppression.”
He further said, “The Election Commission has created a system in which citizens have to turn thousands of scanned pages of the 22-year-old voter list to find themselves. The objective is clear – the genuine voter should get tired and lose, and vote theft should continue without any stop.”
Attacking the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi said, “India makes state-of-the-art software for the world, but the Election Commission of India is still adamant on creating a jungle of papers. If the intentions were clear, the list would have been digital, searchable and machine-readable – and the Commission would have taken its time and focused on transparency and accountability instead of blindly cramming in the work in a hurry in 30 days.”
Rahul Gandhi called the SIR a deliberate move and said, “Through this, citizens are being harassed and the deaths of BLOs due to unnecessary pressure have been ignored as ‘collateral damage’. This is not a failure, it is a conspiracy – a sacrifice of democracy in the defense of power.” Rahul Gandhi said that lakhs of people of BJP openly roam around in different states to cast their votes and to hide this theft, all the evidence is destroyed. BJP and Election Commission together are openly stealing votes. The murder of democracy is going on live.
Earlier, SP President Akhilesh Yadav said that the Election Commission’s own figures show that 99.48 percent forms have been distributed, but in reality many people did not receive the forms. Just put it on the computer and the forms were distributed. This work is being done at the behest of BJP. Akhilesh directly accused BJP and said that they have lost on the issues. Inflation has increased, petrol and diesel have become expensive, electricity bills have increased, there are no medicines, there is no treatment, medical colleges are not running, roads are broken, ambulances have become useless, the police has become corrupt. Now to divert the attention of the public, it is being entangled in SIR.
