Deoghar. The work of Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme in Sarath block of Deoghar district is progressing rapidly. This ambitious scheme is going to provide great relief to the farmers of Deoghar and Jamtara districts. Regular irrigation will now be possible in the fields in the upper areas, which have been suffering from water shortage for years. Under this mega lift irrigation scheme, water will be supplied through underground pipelines to the higher and cultivable areas of Sarath, Karon, Jamtara and Vidyasagar blocks. This is one of the largest irrigation schemes in Deoghar district and is considered to be the second largest mega lift scheme in Jharkhand after Garhwa district.
Pond and Dobha will also be connected to this scheme
Upon completion of the scheme, a total of 190 villages in Deoghar and Jamtara districts will benefit from it. The ponds and ponds of these villages will also be connected to this scheme, so that they remain filled with water throughout the year. Even if the ponds dry up during the summer season, farmers will not need to worry because water will be supplied to the ponds through a separate pipeline.
27 Panchayats will get direct benefit from the scheme
This project will provide irrigation facility to the land of 27 panchayats of Deoghar and Jamtara. The special thing is that with this, farming will be possible even on higher land i.e. hilly land. Both Rabi and Kharif crops will get direct benefit from this, which will increase the income of farmers.
