Congress is trying its best to ensure that Karnataka does not slip away. According to information received by StuffUnknownfrom sources, the high command is very angry with the politics going on in Karnataka and believes that now it has become necessary to take a decision quickly. Therefore, there are preparations to summon CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivkumar to Delhi soon. The groups of both the leaders are continuously giving statements against each other, and many MLAs are worsening the atmosphere by reaching Delhi. The image of the party is being damaged by this. This is the biggest concern of the Congress leadership. According to sources, the main issue of the meeting to be held in Delhi will be that both the leaders should pacify their respective supporters and stop making statements in the media. But what are the options for Congress? Everyone knows that whatever the high command wants will happen, so who is the choice of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi?
Senior Congress sources told StuffUnknownthat only Rahul Gandhi will take the final decision. Out of the six members of the high command, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are in favor of making DK Shivkumar the Chief Minister. Whereas Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal want Siddaramaiah to complete his entire tenure. Now the opinion of Mallikarjun Kharge will be important, who is not able to take a decision. However, sources clearly said that Rahul Gandhi can veto any name. Another thing is being said that neither there will be a change of leadership nor any reshuffle in the cabinet before January-March.
Will Mallikarjun Kharge become CM?
Two groups, each with different arguments
Siddaramaiah group is angry that DK Shivakumar and the leaders associated with him are continuously making statements. They are spreading false propaganda that Siddaramaiah broke his promise. Whereas he has done good work on the post of CM and there is no justification for his removal. A senior Congress leader said, changing the CM now will cause huge losses to the Congress in the coming elections. The opposition will take full advantage of this. Whereas the leaders of DK Shivkumar faction claim that Siddaramaiah had promised for two and a half years and now he should fulfill his promise.
So what option does the Congress high command have?
Option 1:
Both camps may be ordered to remain silent till January. Only after this any decision will be taken.
Option 2:
There will be a closed-door discussion after the budget in March. Till then both the leaders can be asked to prove how many MLAs they have support.
Option 3:
Siddaramaiah will remain the CM for now, but the 2028 elections will be fought on the face of DK Shivakumar.
Option 4:
Kharge is considered a strong leader in national politics, hence many leaders do not want him to be sent to Karnataka.
Exchange of posts possible. Kharge should be made the Chief Minister of Karnataka and Siddaramaiah should become the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha in Delhi. However, Siddaramaiah does not express interest in going to Delhi.
increasing tension
According to sources, in the recent meeting between Kharge and Siddaramaiah, when the matter of change of power came up, Siddaramaiah said, if Rahul Gandhi says, I will do it. This angered Kharge because it made his role as president look weak. Many Dalit leaders have also warned Kharge that if DK Shivakumar is made the CM, he will go into non-cooperation mode. The heads of religious monasteries have also started openly supporting, due to which the political tension is increasing further.
Shiv Kumar is ready to bend a little
Siddaramaiah faction says that he will remain CM for full 5 years. The Shivkumar faction demands that if changes are not made now, then at least he should be declared the sole chief ministerial candidate for 2028. DK Shivakumar’s recent meeting with Satish Jarkiholi is also being considered a part of this political move. Siddaramaiah faction claims that there was no open agreement to share power. Let us see that Siddaramaiah’s old statement is being misrepresented. But both the leaders say that they will accept the final decision of the high command.
