Karnataka CM Rift: Amid the leadership dispute in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will meet for breakfast today. With the initiative of the Congress high command, efforts are being made to give a message of unity in the party. In such a situation, the meeting of the two leaders is important.
Amid the ongoing controversy over leadership change in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will have breakfast together this morning. This meeting between the two leaders is taking place at a time when both were indirectly targeting each other on social media for the last two days.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Congress high command asked both the leaders to talk, after which he invited Shivkumar to his home for breakfast. He also reiterated that his stand remains the same as before. He said, ‘I will do whatever the high command says.’
Although despite the controversy, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were seen together in government programs and cabinet meetings, their ‘sarcastic’ style posts on social media had increased the uneasiness in the political circles. Now it remains to be seen whether today’s meeting is just an attempt to calm the atmosphere or whether both the leaders will really be ready to move forward on a common path.
Party sources say that today’s meeting will also give some time to the high command, so that it can talk to both the leaders separately and decide the way forward in the interest of the party.
Now it remains to be seen whether this breakfast between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar will prove to be just a photo-op, or will it really reduce the distance between the two, or will the matter once again reach the court of the high command.
