Woman Accidentally Locked In Morgue Freezer: Imagine…as soon as you open your eyes, you find yourself in a cold, dark and closed place. You want to scream, but your voice gets buried in the thick walls and disappears. You try to move, but your body is becoming numb from the cold. Slowly you realize that you are alive, but trapped in a place where people die as soon as they reach it. The same horrific experience happened to 80-year-old Maria de Jesus Arroyo, who, despite being alive, was locked in the freezer of the mortuary and died there due to cold.
According to a report, Maria suffered a heart attack in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, California. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors mistakenly declared him dead. After this, they were sealed in a body bag and kept in a refrigerated freezer. But after some time she regained consciousness and was alive inside the freezer.
According to the pathologist, Maria tried her best to save herself after regaining consciousness, but freezing cold gripped her body. Signs of struggle were found on her face, skin and nails, indicating that she kept trying to get out, but eventually died due to cold.
Several days later, when the funeral home staff arrived to collect the body, they were shocked. The body bag was half open, Maria was lying upside down and there were deep injury marks on her face. This made it clear that he was accidentally put in the freezer while he was still alive.
The family has filed a case of serious negligence against the hospital. They said, “Our mother did not die of heart attack but of cold. She was kept in the freezer while she was alive.
Although earlier the court had closed the case citing the deadline, but now the Second District Appeal Court of California has ordered to reopen the case. The court says that there was no way for the family to know that the woman was actually alive. With this decision the family has got new hope for justice.
