New Delhi. Veteran socialist leader and former president of Janata Dal (United) Sharad Yadav will be cremated on Saturday in his native village in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh. His close aide gave this information. Former Union Minister Sharad Yadav died on Thursday at the age of 75 in a private hospital in Gurugram. Govind Yadav, former chief of JD(U)’s Madhya Pradesh unit and a close aide of Sharad Yadav, said Sharad Yadav’s last rites will be performed at his native village Ankhmau in Babai tehsil of Narmadapuram (earlier Hoshangabad) district on Saturday afternoon.
The mortal remains of Sharad Yadav will be brought from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh at 11 am in a chartered plane and will be taken to his native village Ankhmau by road. Sharad Yadav’s last rites will be held at 1:30 pm. Shailesh Yadav, nephew of late leader Sharad Yadav, told that Shantanu Bundela, son of Sharad Yadav, will perform the last rites. Significantly, Sharad Yadav started his political career as a student leader. After this, in 1974, Sharad Yadav’s victory as a joint candidate of the opposition against the then ruling Congress in the Lok Sabha by-election from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh brought him into national politics.
