Chitrakoot: As soon as the winter season arrives, where people seek solace in warm clothes, bonfire and sipping tea, this season sometimes proves to be dangerous for the elderly and small children. Especially in those families where there are elders already suffering from respiratory, heart or blood pressure problems, extra vigilance is needed during cold days. Sometimes even a minor cold takes the form of a serious illness and if care is not taken in time, the situation can worsen.
This danger increases in cold
In this regard, Dr. Rishi Kumar, posted at Chitrakoot District Hospital, told Local 18 that the body’s immunity becomes weak during the cold season. In such situations, children and elderly people fall ill quickly. Especially the elderly face problems like difficulty in breathing, chest tightness and sudden increase in blood pressure during cold weather. According to the doctor, elderly people should avoid getting up too early in the morning in winter. During winter, the body temperature is very low in the morning, due to which the risk of heart attack and brain stroke also increases. He advised that the elderly should get up from bed only after the sun rises and keep their head, ears and chest properly covered while going out.
keep inhaler at home
Cold weather brings the most problems for respiratory patients. The doctor said that cold air has a direct effect on the lungs, which increases the problems of patients suffering from asthma and chronic respiratory diseases. Such patients should avoid cold things and be especially careful in the morning and evening. It is beneficial to cover the mouth and nose with a cloth while going out of the house. He says that every house must have an inhaler. Especially if someone in the family has respiratory problems. The patient’s condition can be managed by giving an inhaler immediately if needed.
