Rishikesh: Today in Uttarakhand will be completely in the rhythm of winter. The morning will start with severe cold and the night temperature may go down further than that of December 2. The cold of the first week of December has now set its foot in the entire state and its effect will be felt everywhere from the mountains to the plains. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, the effect of cold will be seen to increase further in Uttarakhand on the morning of 3rd December. In the plains like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Haldwani, the morning minimum temperature is expected to be between 5°C to 8°C. Talking about hilly districts, the morning temperature in Mussoorie, Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi can remain between 1°C to 4°C. There is also a possibility of frost in high altitude areas.
If we talk about afternoon, due to clear sky the sun is expected to be out in the open. In the plain districts like Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh, the afternoon temperature can reach 18°C to 21°C, which will give some warmth to the body after the harsh cold of the morning. The afternoon temperature in the mountains will be between 10°C to 15°C, which is considered comfortable according to the mountain winter. However, the air will be cool along with the sunshine, so the weather will not feel completely hot. At many places, light haze or mist may persist even in the afternoon, but it will not affect the sunshine much.
Drop in temperature and severe cold in the evening
As the evening approaches and the sun hides behind the mountains, the temperature will start falling rapidly. Evening temperatures in the plains may fall below 10°C, while at night it may reach 6°C to 8°C. The night sky will be clear in cities like Rishikesh and Dehradun, due to which the night will feel cooler. In hilly districts the evening temperature may drop to around 5°C and at night to 0°C to 3°C. Due to this, the effect of severe cold will be seen in many places. The humidity of the air may increase slightly at night, due to which the cold will be felt deeper. In higher areas like Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Chamoli, Auli, night temperature may reach near freezing point.
