New Delhi. Due to Corona, where many challenges have come to the fore in the medical field, now an effective step has been taken in the direction of self-reliant India. For the first time in the country, now medical devices used in hospitals and homes will be given certificate under Made in India i.e. Indian Certification of Medical Devices Plus Scheme (ICMED Plus). For this, the ICMED Plus scheme has been launched for the first time in the country today.
The Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AIMED), Government of India’s Quality Council of India (QCI), has jointly launched this scheme. Which will not only benefit the manufacturers of essential items and items in the medical field made in India in this era of Corona, but even more will benefit the common people who use them.
After this scheme launched today, it will now be easy to identify the quality of a total of 6000 devices including medical devices such as thermometers, oximeter masks and sanitizers. All these medical devices are used in hospitals as well as in homes. At the same time, since the Corona epidemic, there are many such products and devices which are being used by common people. Experts say that its big benefit will be visible in the future.
What is ICMED Plus Scheme
It will be the quality of what people will tell on medical equipment in India.
Under the Indian Certification of Medical Devices Plus Scheme (ICMED Plus Scheme), all medical devices manufactured in India will be given a certificate. Which will simply mean that whatever medical device with the logo of ICMED Plus is being purchased and used at home or hospital, it is not only up to the national but also to the international standards.
This scheme has been designed by integrating the quality management system. Under this, not only the quality of the product and the device will be checked, but along with the verification of the quality, its validation and witness testing will also be done. After this it will be decided how true this product and device is on the standards. Certificate will be given only if it is of good quality. Which means that these medical devices manufactured and used in India will be of high quality.
This is a first of its kind scheme in the world in which the quality management system will be linked to the regulatory requirements with the product certification standard. This will be an end-to-end quality assurance scheme in the medical device sector of India.
Consumers i.e. common people will get this benefit
Rajeev Nath, forum coordinator of The Association of Indian Manufacturers of Medical Devices, says that this scheme will benefit the most not only to the manufacturers of the country but also to the consumers. For the first time this work has been done in the field of medical devices in the direction of self-reliant India. With this, the quality of all medical devices manufactured in the country will be decided. These will be products of standard standards.
Nath says that the first advantage of this is that the people of India will be able to get high quality medical devices. Things like thermometer, oximeter, nebulizer, ECG machine, glucometer, stethoscope, gloves, oxygen concentrator, mask etc., which even a common user knows today due to corona, will ensure the quality of a total of 6000 such things.
When these goods and devices will come in the market and their manufacturer will have the certificate of ICMED plus or these devices will have this logo then people will be able to easily identify that one is made in India secondly it is good in quality on all standards is true.
Rajiv Nath says that another benefit will be given to the manufacturer. That would be that there would be no fraud regarding the quality of whatever goods they would make. Also, things made according to the standards going on in the world will get global acceptance. This will also create a monitoring mechanism, which will periodically audit the companies and factories, check their reports and help in high quality production.
They say that due to Corona, now that medical equipment is being needed the most, in such a situation, if a scheme is being made in India to fix their standard, then it will help in strengthening India globally.
