Mohd Sarfaraz Alam/Saharsa: The story of Sumodh Kumar, living in Makhar village of Simri Bakhtiyarpur block of the district, is no less than an inspiration. Sumodh, who once earned his living by driving autos on the streets of Delhi, has today become a successful entrepreneur living in his village. This change was not easy, but hard work, willingness to learn and right direction changed his destiny. While driving an auto in Delhi, Sumodh was busy in everyday life, but the desire to do something different always remained in his mind. Meanwhile, one day he saw a video on YouTube related to making soya cheese and its business. After watching the video, the thought came to his mind that why not he should also try this work. He thought that if it was done properly, it could become a good and sustainable business. Seeing the adulteration of cheese available in the markets, he resolved to make pure cheese. Thinking this, Sumodh decided to quit driving auto in Delhi and returned to his village. Here he took advice from knowledgeable people to learn the technique of making soya cheese.
Sumodh gradually understood all the processes and then started making soya paneer at home. In the beginning the quantity was less, the market was small and people knew very little about it but, Sumodh did not lose courage. He paid full attention to the quality of his product and started telling people about the benefits of soya cheese. After a few months of hard work, results started coming. People liked the quality of soya paneer and its demand gradually started increasing. People started liking it because it was rich in protein and beneficial for health. Today the situation is that Sumodh prepares about 40 kg of soya cheese every day and supplies it to the nearby markets.
The price of one kg soya cheese is Rs 200. He started earning good income from its sale. Sumodh says that there is still less discussion about soya cheese in the market, but its usefulness is very high. It is much healthier than ordinary cheese. Especially for those who want protein or are looking for vegetarian options. Sumodh’s effort is to make people aware about this pure and healthy product so that more and more people can use it.
Today Sumodh Kumar is not only self-reliant but is also a source of inspiration for the youth of his area. His success shows that a small idea combined with right guidance and hard work can pave the way for big success. Sumodh has covered this journey from the streets of Delhi to his village home because of his dreams and faith. The good thing for Sumodh is that he is working at his home.
