India has exposed the false propaganda of Bangladeshi media with evidence. In Delhi, 20-25 youth had protested peacefully against the murder of Dipu Chandra Das, video evidence of which is available. In contrast, in Chittagong a violent mob entered the Indian Mission and pelted stones. India made it clear that it is committed to security and has shown a mirror to Bangladesh.
New Delhi. The battle between truth and propaganda is now coming face to face through photographs on the stage of international diplomacy. Two pictures from the safe corridors of Delhi to the violent streets of Chittagong are telling a bitter truth to the whole world. The Ministry of External Affairs of India has destroyed the misleading web of Bangladeshi media in which false claims of security breach were made at their High Commission in Delhi. The truth is that while India handled even peaceful protests with complete security, what happened to the Indian Mission in Chittagong was a blatant flouting of its claims of security. This is not just a story of two cities but a clear distinction between adherence to the Vienna Convention and its violation.
20 to 25 youth had demonstrated
A small group of only 20–25 youth had gathered peacefully in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi. They were raising slogans against the brutal murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das by a mob in Mymensingh, Bangladesh and demanding protection of minorities. Neither was there any attempt to break the siege, nor was there any threat to security. The police peacefully removed the protesters within a few minutes. Videos of the entire incident are publicly available.
Bangladesh’s open poll
Despite this, the Bangladeshi media and some official statements exaggerated the peaceful protest and made misleading claims of security violations. India’s Ministry of External Affairs on December 21 clearly rejected these false claims and reiterated that India is fully committed to ensuring the security of foreign missions under the Vienna Convention.
Crowd chaos in Chittagong
On the contrary, Bangladesh itself failed to ensure the security of the Indian mission there. On December 19, during protests in Chittagong following the death of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi, protesters threw stones at the Indian Assistant High Commission, violence broke out and there were clashes with the police. This incident clearly shows that while India provided full security to the Bangladeshi mission in Delhi, Bangladesh failed to provide the same security to the Indian mission in Chittagong. Thus, the violent incidents in Chittagong compared to the calm and controlled situation in Delhi make it clear that the allegations made by Bangladesh were baseless and in fact raise serious questions about its own security arrangements.
