This year, the Agriculture Department is providing subsidies on various agricultural equipment. With this, farmers will be able to make farming more convenient and profitable by purchasing advanced equipment at low cost. District wise targets have also been set for this.
Ritesh Ranjan, Deputy Director of Agricultural Engineering Branch of the District Agriculture Department, said that the government is giving subsidy on a total of 74 types of agricultural equipment in Saharsa district. The objective of these equipment is to remove difficulties faced during farming, save time and labor and increase production. These also include many such small but very useful devices. With their help, farmers can do ploughing, gardening and crop management of their fields in a more convenient manner.
One of these tools is the Internal Cultural Tool, which is especially used in horticulture. The district’s target for this equipment has been set at 15. In which 4 are allotted for General category, 6 for EBC and 2 for SC category. This tool is given in the form of a kit and a grant of Rs 2000 to 2500 is available on it.
Apart from this, there is also a provision of grant for millet processing mill in Saharsa district. Subsidy of up to Rs 57,000 is being given on this machine. Its target is fixed in the district. This is an important step towards promoting millet based farming. This time, under innovation, many new equipment have also been made available to the farmers. Prominent among these is battery operated power weeder, on which subsidy of Rs 14,000 to 17,000 is being given. Similarly, a grant of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 is available on battery operated brush cutter. As per the target distribution, this equipment has been earmarked as 1 for General category, 1 for EBC and 2 for SC category.
At the same time, a subsidy of Rs 236 is available on a garden which costs Rs 500 to Rs 600. The district’s target in this category has been achieved. The district’s target for this is 7 grafting tools, on which a subsidy of Rs 324 is being given. Grass size, whose market price is around Rs 400, is being given a subsidy of Rs 166. The target of the district is set at 11. The hand winder, which costs around Rs 800, has a subsidy of Rs 368 available on it, and the target is 10. The government is giving a subsidy of Rs 2400 on manual seeder, whose market price ranges from Rs 5000 to Rs 6000. The target of the district for this is 37.
The aim of these efforts of the government is to connect farmers with modern agricultural equipment and reduce their costs. Also, farming has to be made more productive and simple.
