According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, along with increasing the capacity of the suburban rail network, special focus is being laid on the safety of passengers. With new technology, automatic door system and better connectivity, the journey of Mumbai local will soon be seen changing.
New Delhi. The local train service, which is called the lifeline of Mumbai, is now going through a major change. The Central Government has taken many important steps to make this suburban rail system, which carries lakhs of passengers every day, more safe, convenient and modern. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, along with increasing the capacity of Mumbai local network, the safety of passengers is being given top priority. The direct benefit of these schemes will be given to the passengers commuting daily, who will now experience a better and more reliable journey than before.
Automatic door system in 238 new trains
To increase the safety of passengers, the process of installing automatic door system in 238 new trains running in Mumbai local has been started. This system will help in preventing accidents like falling from moving trains, which has been one of the biggest challenges of Mumbai local. The compulsion to travel by hanging at the doors during rush hour will gradually reduce. Railways believes that trains will be safer with automatic doors and the confidence of passengers in traveling will also increase.
Palghar station gets new stops
Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, stoppages of new trains have been given at Palghar station. This will provide great relief to the people traveling daily through this area. At present, a total of 104 trains pass through Palghar station, which includes 46 mail-express, 16 passenger and 42 suburban trains. With new stoppages, passengers will not need to travel long distances and travel time will also be saved.
Strong connectivity at Boisar station
Boisar station is also becoming an important center of the Mumbai suburban rail network. A total of 99 trains are operating from here, which includes 41 mail-express, 16 passenger and 42 local trains. Due to good connectivity, it has become easy to reach Mumbai and surrounding areas from Boisar. The Railway Ministry says that all these initiatives will not only increase the capacity of the network, but will also reduce crowding and passengers will get a more safe, comfortable and easy travel experience.
