Something similar to the lyrics of this song is being seen nowadays in Dhanbad of Jharkhand. Here the girlfriend is protesting day and night demanding marriage in front of her boyfriend’s house. More than 96 hours have passed and the girl is sitting on dharna in this shivering cold. It is being told that the lover has absconded after the girlfriend sat on the dharna. The people around are trying to convince the girl, but the girl is adamant on getting married.
It is being told that the lover refused to marry his girlfriend, which he did not know could be so costly. The girlfriend has sat on an indefinite strike in front of her boyfriend’s house and her only demand is to marry the boyfriend. Along with the girl, her elderly grandmother and father are also sitting on dharna along with their daughter.
A girl from Dharjori is sitting on a dharna day and night in front of the house of Uttam Mahato, a lover youth living in Rajganj police station area of Dhanbad district. Due to the cold in the night, people do not want to come out of the house, where the girl is protesting even in the night. As soon as the girlfriend sat on the dharna, the young man absconded, but the girl refused to get up from the dharna without getting married.
When the local headman came to know about the matter, he tried to convince the girl, but the girl is adamant on her insistence. The girl says that while studying at SSLNT College, both of them befriended and then fell in love. There was a love affair for almost 4 years and the people of both the families know about it. Earlier he had agreed to marry, now he has turned back. The dharna will continue until the lover is ready for marriage.
