Banswara. The court has sentenced the husband to death for brutally killing his wife and son in the tribal-dominated Banswara district of Rajasthan. The accused had beaten his wife and innocent son to death with a stick. Considering this as the rarest of the rare category, the court has ordered the accused to be given death sentence. This incident happened about four and a half years ago. At that time it was very much discussed. The accused was addicted to drinking and used to quarrel every day.
Additional Public Prosecutor Shahid Khan Pathan told that this murder case is related to Danpur police station area of Banswara district. In Matasula village of Danpur area, at around 2 pm on June 15, 2018, a man named Rupa attacked his wife Itu alias Itari and 12-year-old son Dilip with a stick and beheaded both of them. During this, the screams of her eight-year-old daughter Reshma were heard by her uncle Hira Ninama, who lives in the neighborhood. When he reached there running, Reshma told that Baba father was killing mother and brother.
Mother and son were lying on the ground and Rupa was raining sticks
When Heera reached the spot with a torch, Itari and her son Dilip were lying motionless on the ground. Roopa was pelting them with sticks. Seeing Heera, Rupa ran away from there. Later Heera called Rupa’s own brother Bada, Prabhu and other people of the village. Together they took the bleeding mother and son to Chhoti Saravan CHC. There both were referred to Banswara after giving first aid. Itu alias Itri died in Banswara district hospital. On Heera’s report, the police registered a case against the accused Roopa under sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code. Two days later, Dilip also died during treatment.
19 witnesses and 28 documents were produced during the hearing
Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused Roopa in this case on 16 June 2018. After completing the investigation, the police presented the charge sheet against the accused in the court. During the hearing, the prosecution presented 19 witnesses and 28 documents. It is clear from the statements of the witnesses that Roopa is addicted to alcohol. After drinking alcohol, he quarrels every day. The people of the village were also troubled by his quarrels and fights. On the conviction of the charge, the Additional District and Sessions Judge sentenced Rupa to death and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
