highlights

In the assembly elections-2013, the Congress was reduced to only one seat in the Hadoti division.
In the last assembly elections, under the leadership of Gehlot, the Congress made some inroads in this stronghold of the BJP.

quota. The three districts of Hadoti Division, Kota, Baran and Jhalawar, which have been a stronghold of saffron since the time of Jansangh, share their borders with Madhya Pradesh. In the last two assembly elections, where the stars were shown to the Congress, in the last election, the Congress was successful in making a dent in the BJP’s stronghold to some extent. For the elections this year, big leaders of both the parties are trying hard. Whatever is in the mind of the people of Hadauti, they express the same through their votes.

This same Hadauti division has given big leaders like Om Birla as Lok Sabha Speaker, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the number two leader in the present government, UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal.

Congress got only one seat in 2013 elections
A total of 4 districts come under Hadauti division, in which Kota-Bundi (2 districts and 1 parliamentary constituency) and Baran-Jhalawar (2 districts and 1 parliamentary constituency) are there. There are 17 assembly seats in these 4 districts. The Congress had to be content with only one seat from Bundi district in this election in the entire division, which was a stronghold of the BJP. Congress’s Ashok Chandna had won from here, who is now the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs and Public Relations in the Gehlot government.

In the last elections, a dent was made in the stronghold of BJP
In the 2018 assembly elections in 4 districts of Hadauti, out of total 17 seats, BJP won 10 and Congress won 7. That is, compared to the last election, the BJP had to bear the loss of six seats in its own stronghold, while the Congress gained the same number of seats. In the last election, out of 6 seats in Kota district, Congress-BJP won three seats each. In Jhalawar, the bastion of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, the BJP managed to save its fort and all the four seats went to its account. Out of four seats in Baran district, BJP was victorious on one and Congress on three. Out of three seats in Bundi district, the voters won two seats for BJP and one seat for Congress. The Congress is trying to widen this gap in the next elections.

From Birla to Raje… these are strong leaders
Many strong leaders of both the parties come from Hadoti division. At present Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and UDH minister in the state government Shanti Dhariwal are from Kota only. Apart from Mines Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, who has been involved in controversies, former Chief Minister of the state Vasundhara Raje and her son MP Dushyant are from this division. Apart from these, former minister Pratap Singh Singhvi, former minister Madan Dilawar, former minister Prabhulal Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Rakhi Gautam, Prahlad Gunjal, Chandrakanta Meghwal, Hiralal Nagar, Govind Ranipuria, Kaluram Meghwal, Lalit Meena, Kailash Meena, Ramgopal Bairwa, Bharat Singh, Madanlal Verma, Nirmala Sahariya and Karan Singh Rathore represent Hadoti division.

Rahul’s visit breathed life into the Congress organization
The Congress is excited about the BJP making inroads in this stronghold in the last assembly elections. Because of this, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra started from this division in Rajasthan in December. First of all, the yatra entered Chaunli village of Jhalawar district, adjacent to the border of Madhya Pradesh and spent the night in the farm. The yatra covered 18 assembly seats in seven districts of the state. This includes Jhalrapatan of Jhalawar, Ramganj Mandi of Kota, Ladpura, Kota North and South assembly seats and Keshavraipatan assembly seat of Bundi district.

Hadauti saffron stronghold since the time of Jansangh
Hadauti division has been a stronghold of saffron since the time of Jansangh. In 1967 and 1971 Lok Sabha elections, Brijraj Singh from Bharatiya Jana Sangh had won from Jhalawar-Baran seat. The Congress lost the Lok Sabha elections in 1977 and 1980 and Chaturbhuj ji remained a Member of Parliament for two consecutive terms. In view of the elections this year, former CM Vasundhara Raje from the BJP camp and state BJP chief Satish Poonia are continuously touring. Last year, on October 20-21, party president JP Nadda was about to visit Hadoti, but due to Himachal elections, his visit was postponed. According to party sources, after Nadda becomes the president again, he will soon be made to visit Hadoti.
