Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab Assembly elections will be announced next week. He also targeted the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab government over the law and order situation in the state and said, “Justice will be done in all incidents of sacrilege and the guilty will be punished severely.”
After reaching here, Kejriwal told reporters at the airport that whether it is a matter of the security of the Prime Minister or the safety of the common man… it should be ensured. On the issue of elections, he said, “The face of the chief minister’s post will be announced next week.” The Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener had announced last year that the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections would be from the Sikh community. Polling for the Punjab Assembly elections will be held on February 14, while the counting of votes will be done on March 10.
The Delhi chief minister also criticized the Congress and the Badal family for allegedly looting the state over the years. “The alliance between Congress and Badal family is going on for the last several years. Both Congress and Badal family have been looting Punjab. Now it will end. There will be prosperity in Punjab and good times are about to come for Punjab.

Hitting out at the Charanjit Singh Channi-led government over the law and order situation in the state, Kejriwal referred to incidents like recent bomb blasts, incidents of sacrilege and security lapse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged, “Law and order is deteriorating. Channi government could not handle the situation.
Significantly, on January 5, in Punjab, due to the blockade by the protesters, the Prime Minister’s convoy was stuck on a flyover for some time. After this he returned to Delhi from Punjab without attending any program including a rally. Kejriwal said that after the upcoming elections, when the AAP government is formed, law and order will be ensured. ‘There will be peace all around,’ he said.
