Satish Poonia wrote this letter 22 years ago at the time of resigning from the post of state president of the party’s Yuva Morcha. At that time the state president of BJP was Gulabchand Kataria. In this letter, Satish Poonia had accused BJP veterans Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Lalit Kishor Chaturvedi and Harishankar Bhabhada of back-stabbing. At the same time, leaders like Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod and former MP Ram Singh Kaswan were called ‘Bhasmasur’. Satish Poonia resigned in July 1999 after being hurt by not getting a ticket in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Poonia wrote that these people had turned the dice in Delhi
In this letter, Poonia had written that Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi and Harishankar Bhabhada have stabbed me in the back and got tickets cut by putting their feet on the chests of workers across the state. Workers across the state are not in a position to bear this humiliation. I am annoyed by the continuous neglect for so long. I am not in the mindset that I should remain on the post of State President of the Morcha.
Questions were raised on repeatedly giving ticket to Ram Singh Kaswan
In his letter, Satish Poonia, questioning the repeated ticketing of Churu MP Ram Singh Kaswan, wrote that in 1993, I was denied ticket in the assembly elections from Sadulpur. Because the then MP Ram Singh Kaswan got a ticket for his wife by threatening. Later they were defeated. 1996 Churu parliamentary constituency Lok Sabha, 1996 Sardarshahr by-election and 1998 Lok Sabha elections Ram Singh Kaswan contested and he was badly defeated in these three consecutive elections. The party continued to assure me after the 1993 assembly elections, but Ram Singh Kaswan kept fighting the elections. I was also neglected during the 1998 assembly elections and Kaswan was made a candidate. Under what pressure did Ram Singh Kaswan remain the party’s choice in these Lok Sabha elections for the 7th consecutive time after contesting the elections 8 months ago and the assembly? I didn’t know till today.
Poonia said it is a wonderful story of strange politics.
After the letter went viral, Satish Poonia tweeted that “22 years old letter being issued at this time is a wonderful story of strange politics. Yet I was still with the workers. I am still a representative of ordinary workers. It was only after what was said on the party’s stage that the leadership gave me important responsibilities in the party, which I faithfully discharged. At the same time, Rohitashv Sharma, a former minister of Raje faction, who recently got notice from the party on charges of indiscipline, said that what discipline will he teach others who have committed indiscipline himself.
