Banbhoolpura Encroachment Case: Uttarakhand High Court had ordered to free about 30 hectares of railway land from encroachment in the year 2022. Thousands of families have been settled in the area for years, many of whom had approached the Supreme Court against this order. Now the Supreme Court is likely to give its final verdict in this matter on December 2, 2024.
Haldwani/Banbhulpura: At present, police and security force personnel are deployed everywhere in Banbhulpura area of Haldwani, because tomorrow i.e. on 2nd December, the Supreme Court can give its final verdict in the case of large-scale encroachment on railway and government land. Before the decision, the police administration has tightened security in the entire area. Additional security forces are deployed in the area, vigil has been increased and suspicious movements are being continuously monitored.
Banbhulpura divided into four sectors
On the instructions of Nainital SP Manjunath TC, Banbhulpura area has been divided into four sectors and the command of each sector has been handed over to senior police officers. The focus of the police is on door-to-door verification campaign, surveillance on suspicious persons, investigation of constructions related to encroachment, increasing surveillance at checking points, investigation of outsiders and document verification. Police presence has been increased in the entire area. Foot patrolling, mobile vans and intelligence units have all been put on high alert.
Why increased security? Tension increased due to recent events
In fact, in the recent past, Banbhulpura area has been at the center of many sensitive incidents. NIA had interrogated a Maulana here in a case related to Delhi blast. According to the police, in recent years a large number of people from Moradabad, Rampur and Bareilly have settled in this area and have created a network of criminal activities. For these reasons, the police administration is extra cautious about the situation.

Before the decision of the Supreme Court, religious and social unrest is also intense in Banbhulpura area. Chief Imam of Haldwani city, Maulana Azam Qadri is currently present in the Dargah of Ajmer Sharif. They have come there to pray for saving the houses of Banbhulpura, for the safety of the people and for the peaceful situation.
