London. British MP Lord Karan Bilimoria praised India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 19 January. He has described India’s PM Narendra Modi as “one of the most powerful men in the world”. He said that India is the fastest growing economy in the world and is moving ahead with the vision of becoming the second largest economy in the world in the coming years. MP Lord Karan Bilimoria also spoke on the importance of India-UK relations.
During the Parliament debate, UK MP Lord Karan Bilimoria, referring to the life struggle of India’s PM Narendra Modi, said, “Narendra Modi sold tea at his father’s tea stall at a railway station in Gujarat. Today he is one of the most powerful men in the world as the Prime Minister of India. He said, ‘Today India has the presidency of the G20. It has a vision to become the second largest economy in the world with a GDP of USD 32 billion in the next 25 years.
Told India the world’s fastest growing economy
Lord Bilimoria said during the debate on the ‘importance of relations between the United Kingdom and India’ that India has now overtaken Britain. India is the fifth largest economy in the world and also the fastest growing large economy in the world with 1.4 billion people. He said that it is a young country with 75 years of democracy. Its growth rate in the last financial year was 8.7 percent. It has contributed to one out of 10 unicorn companies on a total of 100 unicorn companies. It is also the fourth largest producer of renewable energy and solar energy.
India is getting stronger
Lord Bilimoria said, India is becoming stronger in every aspect, including the era of the pandemic. India partnered with Serum Institute of India with Oxford University and AstraZeneca. The MP said that the UK-India Free Trade Agreement is well advanced, although our trade at the moment is £29.6 billion.
