Raipur News: Proper use of fertilizers and nutrients is very important for good production of brinjal. Gardening expert Kunal Raj said that DAP, compost and NPK are considered most effective for plant growth and fruit production.
Raipur. The craze of gardening is continuously increasing in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Especially people fond of kitchen gardening wait for the cold season because this season is considered most suitable for planting many vegetables. In this context, the city’s well-known gardening expert Kunal Raj said that winter season is the best time to plant brinjal, especially for the Kalyani brinjal variety. According to them, this variety is not only tasty but is also easily prepared in a pot.
Kunal Raj tells Local 18 that there are two major varieties of Kalyani brinjal available in the market, one with small round shape and the other with long shape. Both the varieties grow fast and give good fruits in short time. Generally, a 14 to 16 inch pot is considered most suitable for planting brinjal in a pot. In a bigger pot, the roots of the plant spread well, due to which growth is better and fruits are also available in larger quantities.
Brinjal will grow in a few weeks
He told that in this season it is better to plant micro trees i.e. small plants. The plant starts flowering in about 20 to 25 days after planting and soon after that the fruits also start getting ready. This means that fresh brinjal grown in the home kitchen can be enjoyed within a few weeks.
Correct use of fertilizers and nutrients is necessary
Proper use of fertilizers and nutrients is very important for good production of brinjal. According to Kunal Raj, compost, DAP and NPK are considered most effective for plant growth and fruit production. He especially warned that urea should not be used in brinjal because due to this, the plant becomes more inclined towards leaves and bears less fruits. With the right fertilizer and irrigation, the brinjal plant bears fruits continuously and gives good yields throughout the season.
Kalyani brinjal saplings are easily available in Star Nursery of Raipur. Here the price of one Tharha is around Rs 15 whereas a ready plant planted in a big size pot is available for around Rs 350. This facility is beneficial for those people who want to avoid the process of preparing the plant themselves and want to directly take the prepared plant and decorate it at home. In comparison to summer, brinjal is less prone to diseases and the plant grows faster. In such a situation, this is the right time for kitchen garden lovers to include Kalyani Brinjal in their garden and enjoy the fresh, chemical-free vegetable grown at home.
