Gardening Tips: The interest in gardening is increasing rapidly in Chhattisgarh. People now do not want to be limited to just flowers, but are also showing interest in planting fruit plants at home. In such a situation, growing the seasonal plant by planting it in a pot is emerging as a better option. According to Raipur’s well-known gardening expert Devendra Dhiwar, the cold season is considered most suitable for planting Mausambi and the Mausambi plant can be easily planted in a pot from December to March.
Bountiful fruits with proper care
Expert Devendra Dhiwar says that Nagpur and Kolkata varieties are considered best for planting Mausambi in pots. Both these varieties grow well even in limited space and give abundant fruits when given proper care. If the plant is planted in the cold season, it starts bearing fruits in the summer season, whereas the plant grows rapidly during the rainy season.
20 inch size pot suitable
Expert Devendra Dhivar also gave special information regarding the selection of pot. According to him, a pot of size 12 to 20 inches is suitable for planting Mausambi. However, if a 20 inch pot is taken, the plant becomes stronger with its roots and its growth is better. Preparation of soil before planting it in a pot is very important. For this, vermicompost and well decomposed cow dung should be mixed well in the soil. Along with this, mixing mustard cake and neem cake provides essential nutrients to the plant and also protects it from insect diseases.
Regarding the type of soil, expert Devendra Dhivar says that black soil is considered best for monsoon. In Nagpur region, Mausambi is grown in red soil, but the same variety grows well in black soil of Chhattisgarh also. When provided with the right soil and nutrition, the plant grows rapidly and bears fruits for a long time.
Regarding maintenance, he told that it is necessary to pay some attention to the Mausambi plant. If the leaves of the plant start curling, shrinking or the effect of fungus is visible, then medicines like Clear powder, Roger or Sonata can be used. Balance in watering is necessary and irrigation should be done at an interval of two to three days.
When given proper care, the Mousambi plant can grow up to 8 to 10 feet tall and starts giving fresh, juicy fruits during the summer season. Mausambi grown in pots not only fulfills the household needs but also proves beneficial from health point of view.
