Ranchi: Farmers cultivate lemon on a large scale in Khunti and Ormanjhi places outside Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, but when they cultivate lemon trees, there is a little space between them. To utilize it, the farmers here plant papaya plants in it. In such a situation, it is like taking care of a lemon. Papaya is also taken care of in the same way.
Cultivating two crops simultaneously
Farmer Nilesh, who cultivates lemon, says that there is no need to make any extra effort for this. From raw papaya to ripe papaya, there is demand in the market throughout the year. Apart from lemon farming, we are also earning through papaya. Lemon also remains in demand for 12 months. Where lemon and papaya are produced every day. In such a situation, farmers here can easily earn Rs 10,000 to 15,000 sitting at home.
He further explained that because the lemon tree is a little lower. It becomes completely dense at the bottom and starts bearing fruits, but what is special about papaya is that it is a little longer. In this situation, papaya is much higher than lemon. In such a situation, both of these start happening simultaneously. For this they do not even have to provide much space. Even if you plant 30 to 40 such trees, you can easily produce 6 to 7 kg of papaya every day.
I just have to pay a little attention
By the way, the cow dung or compost that you are giving in your lemon. You have to give the same in papaya also. Just one thing has to be kept in mind. You might be giving fertilizer to lemon once a week, but the thing about papaya is that it asks for food every day. He needs a little fertilizer, a good amount of water every day. So the flow of water. Grow it in the roots of papaya and add liquid fertilizer to water and apply it in the morning and evening. There’s nothing more to be done than that.
good source of income
Farmer Nilesh says that papaya is a very good means of earning. Our income comes from lemon and the rest from papaya, but this is due to the trees we have planted in between. There are easily 50 trees with lemons. From these 50 trees, he easily earns Rs 15,000 a month. This income also covers their important expenses.
