Jaya Bachchan News: Jaya Bachchan expressed concern in Rajya Sabha over ambulance delay, traffic jam and ignoring Supreme Court order. He demanded dedicated emergency lanes and AI signals for ambulances. The SP MP said that the Supreme Court had given instructions in 2018 itself to ensure passage for ambulances, but till now it is not being followed.
New Delhi. Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan strongly attacked health services and traffic system in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Raising a very sensitive issue during Zero Hour, he said that in today’s India, groceries reach home in 15 minutes and pizza in 30 minutes, but due to delay in reaching the hospital, patients die on the way. He demanded that dedicated emergency lanes should be created for the movement of ambulances on roads across the country.
Patients missing ‘golden hour’
Jaya Bachchan presented shocking figures in the House. He told that 60 percent of ambulances in the country reach their destination late. In urban areas this delay is on average 15 to 30 minutes. The result is that 55 percent of accident victims lose their ‘golden hour’. ‘Golden Hour’ is the first hour after the injury, in which if proper treatment is provided, the patient’s life can be saved. Due to lack of provision of green corridors and police squad, this time is wasted in traffic jams.
Ignoring Supreme Court order
The SP MP said that the Supreme Court had given instructions in 2018 itself to ensure passage for ambulances, but till now it is not being followed. Despite the National Ambulance Code of 2016, there are no dedicated lanes on the highways. He also expressed concern that there is no national data available to monitor these traffic deaths.
AI signal and demand for strict law
Jaya Bachchan put forward many suggestions before the government. He demanded that dedicated emergency lanes should immediately be made mandatory across the country. Apart from this, AI-based traffic signals should be implemented which detect ambulances and give them priority. He also talked about ensuring 30-second green corridor. Jaya Bachchan said that heavy punishment should be imposed on those who block the way for ambulances. Also, there should be a high-level investigation into deaths caused by ambulance delay.
