Pilibhit. The work done to earn virtue knowingly or unknowingly makes one a partner in sin. Something similar is being seen in Pilibhit. In the name of charity, the people here are doing such a thing that it is proving fatal not only for animals but also for humans. Recent accidents confirm this. At the same time, neither the common people are becoming aware about all this nor the responsible people are taking any strict steps.
In our civilization, nature and its related elements are worshiped in different forms. Be it trees, animals or birds, everything has its own religious significance. Hanuman ji is considered ‘Chiranjeevi’. Among animals, the monkey is worshiped as Hanuman. For this reason also, everyone serves the monkeys as per their capacity in the form of Hanumanji. Most people consider feeding monkeys as a very virtuous act. It is okay to do this on the rooftops of our houses etc. to a great extent, but going to the monkeys’ natural habitat (forests) and giving them food proves fatal for them.
Cause of disaster for people
People keep food for monkeys on the forest roads of Pilibhit, UP. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, many people of the city take out time and go to the forest for this work. But doing so is becoming a cause of accidents for innocent wild animals including monkeys and pedestrians passing by on two-wheelers. Recently, a school van overturned while saving monkeys on Madhotanda Khatima road passing through Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. A dozen children were seriously injured in the accident.
Forest department remains careless
This is not the first time that an accident has happened due to monkeys, two-wheelers and four-wheelers are becoming victims of accidents every day. Despite this, common people are not becoming aware about this wrong tradition. The forest department officials are also not taking any concrete steps to stop this tradition.
