Jharkhand News: There is going to be a big relaxation for liquor lovers in Jharkhand. The Excise Department of the state government has started preparations to extend the operating hours of bars and restaurants, so that from the new financial year, bars can serve liquor till 4 am.
Ranchi: Good news has emerged for those who want to avoid traffic jams. Before the New Year, the Excise Department in Jharkhand can take a big decision. Now liquor will be available here till four in the morning. The department is considering increasing the operating hours of the bar. Currently, bars in the state remain open only till 12 midnight. Now the timing can be increased till 4 in the morning.
Under the proposal of the Excise Department, bar operators will have to obtain a special license and strictly follow the rules. The department has said that provisions like heavy fine or cancellation of license will also be there for ignoring the rules. This change is being considered as a step towards major reform in the excise policy of the state. Officials say that this will not only boost tourism and catering industry, but can also help in controlling illegal liquor sale.
Excise department will decide soon
Some social organizations and prohibition supporters have also expressed concern over this move, because serving liquor late at night can raise social and public safety issues. Despite the implementation of prohibition in neighboring states like Bihar, incidents of illegal liquor sale and smuggling have been continuously coming to the fore, due to which various debates are going on on the excise policy and its implementation. If this scheme of the Excise Department is implemented, then the party atmosphere in Jharkhand may get a new impetus.
