Hyderabad: Increasing traffic jams and lack of parking at public places remain a serious problem in Hyderabad city. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a big and innovative step towards solving this problem. The city’s first smart multilevel rotary car parking facility has been started near KBR Park. This state-of-the-art facility will be inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, district in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other senior officials.
This is Hyderabad’s first automated smart rotary parking facility, which has been successfully developed by GHMC and Nav Nirman Associates on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This state-of-the-art technology, which is based on vertical machine rotary structure, is considered to be an ideal solution to the parking crisis in urban areas with limited space.
Simultaneous parking capacity of 72 cars and modern facilities.
This parking system is built in an area of only 405 square feet (405 sq.ft) and its height is 15 meters. Its capacity in a small space is astonishing:
Capacity: 72 cars can be parked simultaneously in it.
other facilities:
Two-wheeler parking: Separate parking slots have also been created for two-wheelers.
- Entry System: RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based system has been used for entry and exit, making the process fast and streamlined.
- EV Charging: Dedicated EV charging points have also been provided to promote electric vehicles.
- Parking fee (charging rates): The charge has been fixed at ₹30 for cars and ₹10 for two-wheelers.
Advanced security and monitoring systems.
Giving priority to the safety of passenger vehicles, an advanced monitoring system has been installed here:
- Safety Technology: Load-balance sensor and strong locking system.
- Surveillance: 24×7 CCTV surveillance.
Emergency Facility: Quick emergency response system.
The parking complex will be open from 5 am to 11 pm. Apart from this, direct entry into KBR Park has also been provided from this parking through a special ‘Park-Connect’ route, which will facilitate the pedestrians.
Both footpaths and traffic will benefit.
GHMC officials have expressed confidence that this facility will drastically reduce unauthorized roadside parking in a congested area like KBR Park.
Main benefits of this:
- Benefit to pedestrians: With the removal of illegal parking, footpaths will be available to pedestrians.
- Traffic flow: The flow of vehicles on main roads will be better and traffic jams will be reduced.
- Less commercial pressure: Traffic pressure arising from commercial activities around the park area will be reduced.
This high-tech automated system is being considered as the future of the city’s parking problem, and GHMC is planning to install it in other parts of Hyderabad soon.
