Berlin. Jai Sindh Muttahida Mahaj (JSMM) Chairman Shafi Burfat has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Sydney’s Bondi Beach on 14 December 2025. He appealed to the global community to frame charges against Pakistan under the International Court of Justice. According to Burfat, action should be taken against spreading extremist ideology and terrorism. He made this appeal after the terrorist attack carried out by a father-son duo of Pakistani origin during the Jewish festival on Australia’s Bondi Beach, in which 15 innocent lives were lost.
According to Australian investigating authorities, Sajid Akram, 50, and Navid Akram, 24, opened fire indiscriminately on Sunday at a ‘Hanukkah by the Sea’ event organized to celebrate the first day of the Jewish festival on Sydney’s Bondi Beach. 16 people including the attacker Sajid died in this attack. The youngest victim was a 10-year-old girl who later died at a children’s hospital, while the oldest victim was an 87-year-old, police said.
Burfat, who is living in exile in Germany, in his official statement described the attack as a “crime against humanity and the grave sin of killing innocent people”. He called it part of a global conspiracy, which spreads fear, hatred and division. Burfat had long warned that Pakistan’s state-sponsored religious fanaticism and training of militant groups would spread beyond its borders and take the form of global terrorism.
They allege that this attack clearly shows the traces of the fundamentalist mentality and ideological structure nurtured by Pakistan for decades. Pakistan has been promoting intolerance and extremism through “two-nation theory”. He further said, “Ever since Pakistan adopted religious extremism and the training of terrorist groups as its official government policy, and used them in neighboring areas and beyond, the political leadership of the Sindhdesh National Liberation Movement, based on the historic Sufi, secular and humanitarian traditions of the people of Sindh, has consistently warned the world about the dire consequences.”
Appealing to the international community to hold Pakistan accountable, he said that mere condemnation of the attack will not suffice but the country should be dragged to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Military, political, diplomatic and secret financial assistance given to Pakistan should be stopped immediately. Pakistan Army should be stopped patronizing the extremist forces by terming it as protector. Along with this he demanded an independent investigation.
Burfat said that the Sindhi nation, in line with its Sufi, secular and humanitarian traditions, stands with all victims of terror, irrespective of their religion or caste. Shafi Burfat is a prominent leader of the Sindhudesh movement, which advocates making Sindh an independent nation separate from Pakistan. He has been accusing the Pakistani Army and ISI of spreading oppression and fundamentalism in Sindh. The statement was issued immediately after the attack, in which he appealed to the world for united action against state-sponsored extremism. The attack is the deadliest mass shooting in Australia since 1996, sparking global condemnation and discussion of gun law reform.
