Speaking at the 17th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention in Indore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “I hope that all of you will go to Ujjain and seek the blessings of Lord Mahakal.” Many migrants who came to participate in the conference visited “Shri Mahakal Lok” along with having darshan of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar. For decades, most of the special guests who came from abroad used to remain in the circle of protocol only in the periphery of Delhi. Being the commercial capital of Mumbai, some people used to go there too, but in the name of tourism, they were made to visit only Taj Mahal whereas India is many times more culturally rich and diverse than this.
After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi made a big change in this field. Narendra Modi himself has traveled all over India, that is why he is well aware of India’s great cultural places and multifaceted heritage. In order to publicize India’s great cultural splendor to the world, the Modi government has decided that meetings with distinguished guests who have come to India should be held not only in Delhi, but also in different centers across India, not only in Taj Mahal. This will not only give media coverage to the particular place, but due to the visit of world leaders, their own country and other people coming under influence will also be curious about India.
Visits of world leaders outside Delhi
In 2020, the reception of US President Donald Trump took place at the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad. In September 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping first visited Ahmedabad on his Indian tour, while in October 2019, Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met at Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. When French President Emmanuel Macron came to India, he also visited Varanasi and Mirzapur. When Canada’s Prime Minister Justice Trudeau visited India, he paid obeisance at the Golden Temple while visiting Amritsar besides Delhi. Apart from Trudeau, he went to Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat and Mumbai. In 2018, South Korea’s First Lady Kim Jung Sook celebrated Deepawali in Ayodhya as the chief guest. The pictures of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Ganga Aarti are still in his memory. This meeting of Modi-Abe in Varanasi became very popular as Kashi-Kyoto relation. The then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met Prime Minister Modi in Ahmedabad.
Monuments are being decorated
It is not that the visits of these very special people are kept outside Delhi just like that. Efforts are also being made to make the country’s past seem beautiful and impressive even in the present. Sun Temple at Konark, Meenakshi Temple at Madurai, Kailash Temple at Ellora, Modhera Sun Temple, Varadaraja Perumal Temple at Kanchipuram, construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, Baba Vishwanath Corridor at Kashi, Mahaloka Corridor at Ujjain, Chardham Corridor, The redevelopment of Kedarnath Dham, the cultural splendor of India in the form of the holy Dera Baba Nanak-Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is taking a new dimension. Apart from this, 15 tourist circuits including Ramayana Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Tirthankar Circuit are also being built.
Despite all this, the most important chapter in this vision of Prime Minister Modi is now being written. India is chairing the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023. India has kept its G20 Presidency theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – ‘One Earth One Family One Future’. India has this golden opportunity to introduce its great glorious culture and glorious heritage to the world and that is why the Modi government is organizing 215 meetings of the G-20 in 56 cities across the country during this period. In this sequence, G20 meetings have been held in Udaipur, Bangalore and Mumbai, in which the representatives of the world’s 20 most powerful countries who came to attend got a chance to see, understand and know the heritage and culture of these cities. After the Udaipur meeting, where these people went to Kumbhalgarh fort and Ranakpur Jain temple, after the Mumbai meeting, the delegates visited Kanheri caves. Nowadays preparations are also going on in full swing in Bundelkhand’s world famous tourist places Khajuraho, Orchha and Panna Tiger Reserve where the culture group meeting of G-20 group will be held in February 2023.
What is Modi’s vision of introducing the world to Indian cultural heritage, it is clear from his statement in which he said that “We have to make the G-20 meeting not just a diplomatic event, but a historic event of public participation. .” In fact, the whole effort has been made to ensure that when a foreigner comes to India, he should not only know the capital but also “Incredible India” as a whole.
