New Delhi. The Modi government has given the gift of highway and rapid rail to make the movement of the people of NCR easier. Under this, Ghaziabad city is being connected all-round. While another new route is being built for the people of Hapur and Ghaziabad to go to Dehradun, the country’s first rapid rail RRTS is being run to improve connectivity from Delhi to Meerut. After the completion of both these schemes, the movement of the people of Ghaziabad will become easy.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is going to construct the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), which will be linked to the Dehradun-Delhi highway. After its link, time will be saved for those traveling towards Dehradun and Saharanpur. In this regard, the GDA has sent a proposal to the National Authority of India (NHAI).
According to the Chief Engineer of GDA, the total length of NPR will be 20 km, which will be built in three phases. The first phase is 6.4 km from Hapur Road to Meerut Road. Who will be Second 8.6 km from Meerut road to Hindon river. Will be long, in this 3.5 km. The work is done. Third phase Hindon to Bhopura road 5 km. Will happen. From Bhopura it will be linked to Dehradun Delhi Highway.
GDA officials told that starting from Hapur Road, NPR will cross Meerut Road via Madhuban Bapudham. From there it will go till Bhopura Road in Loni. If a road is constructed near this Bhopura road, then Delhi Dehradun Express can be linked.
Rapid will start in March 2023
The test run of the 17 km long priority section of Rapid Rail Sahibabad to Duhai has started at a speed of 160 km per hour. According to NCRTC, the 25 KVA Over Head Equipment (OHE) line from Sahibabad to Meerut Road Tiraha station (Ghaziabad station) was charged and the train was taken to Sahibabad to check it. Train design 180 km. Done on an hourly basis. The average speed of the train will be 100 to 120 km. The load capacity test on the track has already been done.
The priority section has Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations. At present, the work of installing escalators and lifts is being done at these stations. Along with this, finishing of all these stations is being done. The construction of passenger facilities and counters is also in the final stage.
NCRTC has set a target to operate RRTS trains in March 2023 in the priority section and in the year 2025 on the entire corridor. About 82 km corridor is being constructed under the Delhi Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System, in which work on 17 km from Sahibabad to Duhai in Ghaziabad has been done on priority basis.
