New Delhi. The investigation of Delhi Police has revealed a case which is no less than a spy thriller film. Delhi Police did not wait for any eyewitness to solve the mystery of the fatal attack on a youth in Ajmal Khan Park, Karol Bagh, but instead made ‘a broken beer bottle’ lying at the spot its biggest clue. With the help of a small barcode on this bottle, the police not only identified the attackers but also put them behind bars. Within 72 hours, Delhi Police has arrested Rizwan, Kamran and Farzan for attacking a person.
Bloody game started during reel shoot
This incident is of 15 December 2025. A young man from Delhi was shooting a ‘reel’ for social media in the historical Ajmal Khan Park located in Karol Bagh with his friend. It was evening time and there was activity in the park. At the same time, three unknown youths were sitting in a corner of the park and drinking alcohol. One of the three asked for a matchbox from the person shooting the reel. When the person refused, all three started taking that person. After this, all three started talking loudly and resorting to misbehavior. When the victim protested against them, the drunken miscreants started abusing. The dispute escalated so much that a person picked up a beer bottle, broke it by hitting it on a stone and directly hit the victim on the head.
How did the blood soaked person reach the hospital?
The victim fell there drenched in blood. The attackers fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. The victim’s friend immediately informed the police and he was taken to a nearby hospital. According to doctors, the blow of the bottle was so deep that if timely treatment had not been received, the young man could have died.
challenge of investigation
The big challenge before Delhi Police was how to reach the accused. In such a situation, the barcode recorded in a piece of beer became a ‘game changer’. The biggest challenge before the Delhi Police was that the accused were completely unknown and due to low lighting in the park at that time, even the victim’s friend could not see their faces properly. When Karol Bagh police station inspected the spot, they found broken beer bottles and some blood stains. Delhi Police’s ‘Smart Investigation’ started from here. Police picked up remains of bottles from the spot on which barcodes and batch numbers were clearly visible.
The investigation team scanned that barcode with the help of the Excise Department. Every bottle of liquor in Delhi has a unique track record. Scanning revealed that the particular bottle was purchased from a government liquor vend in Karol Bagh area on the same day of the incident. The police immediately reached that contract and examined the CCTV footage installed there.
Matching of CCTV and forensic links
In the CCTV of the liquor shop, three youths were seen buying beer of the same brand whose bottle was found on the spot. The police matched the facial features with the description given by the victim’s friend. After this, the police analyzed the footage of about 50 CCTV cameras installed at the entry and exit gates of the park as well as on the surrounding roads. The technical surveillance and forensic team also preserved the fingerprints found on the bottle.
Legal troubles and police message
The links kept coming together and the police found out the hiding place of those three accused. On Sunday, based on a secret information, the police raided and arrested all three. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their crime and said that they had lost their temper over a trivial matter while intoxicated.
Delhi Police has registered an FIR under section 109 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) on the basis of the victim’s complaint and scientific evidence. DCP said that this case proves that no matter how much criminals try to destroy evidence, forensic and digital evidence will not let them escape. At present, all three accused are in judicial custody and the police is preparing to file a charge sheet in the fast track court in this case. People visiting the park have greatly praised this scientific investigation by the police.
