Bastar Olympics 2025: Divisional level Bastar Olympics will start in Bastar from today. Surrendered Maoists and family members of Maoists victims will also participate in this Olympics. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also participate on the occasion of this Olympics.
Bastar: Divisional level Bastar Olympics will start in Bastar from today. In this Olympics, apart from players from different districts of Bastar, surrendered Maoists and members of families affected by Maoists will also participate in the medal race. A total of 11 sports will be organized in this Olympics. About 3500 players from Bastar division will participate in it.
Today Bastar Olympics will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. This Olympics will be held from December 11 to December 13. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also attend the closing ceremony on December 13 and will distribute awards to the winners. On the occasion of the inauguration of Bastar Olympics, 6-time world boxing champion, London Olympics 2012 bronze medalist and Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Khel Ratna awardee Mary Kom will be present. On the last day, former Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia will encourage the players of Bastar Olympics.
Bastar IG said that ‘Nua Baat’ team of surrendered Maoists and people suffering from Maoists has been formed in Bastar Olympics. In this Olympics, 761 surrendered Maoists and members of victim families will participate in various sports. This effort is being made to connect with the mainstream of the society and to give a new direction. Nua Baat team has been formed to change the image of Bastar. Nua Bat team had positive results in 2024, hence this team has been included in 2025 also
A total of 11 level sports will be organized in Bastar Olympics. Among these, sports like athletics (including relay race), archery, badminton, football, karate, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, tug of war etc. will be played at the district level. The junior category will be given a prize money of Rs 2400 and the senior category will be given Rs 3000. Players who want to improve their skills will be given direct admission in the sports academy of the state so that they can progress in the field of sports.
Bastar Collector Haris S said that eight teams have been formed including all the players of Bastar district and rehabilitated Maoists and families of Maoist victims. A total of 3500 players will participate in various sports in this Bastar Olympics. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the last day of the Olympics. Whereas 276 prizes will be given to the players coming first, second and third. A total of 11 sports are included. Arrangements for accommodation and food have been made for all the players. Bastar Olympics will be organized in four grounds of the city. It will be done at various places including Jagdalpur’s Hockey Ground, Indira Stadium, Sports Complex, CT Ground.
