Gorakhpur: There is relief news for the travelers of the city. Now the number of electric buses has been increased for those going to Medical College, Nausar, Shastri Chowk, Roadways and Railway Station. In view of the increasing passenger pressure, the frequency of e-buses has been increased in the city, due to which a bus will be available on Medical College Road every 15 minutes.
Buses on new routes from Mahesra to Medical College
The Transport Department has decided that four electric buses will be run from Mahesra Depot to Medical College via Shastri Chowk, Roadways, Kali Mandir and Dharamshala Bridge. The second new route has been decided from Mahesra to Nausadh, Padleganj and Medical College, where four e-buses will be deployed.
From November 29, services will be improved by increasing the frequency of trips on both the routes, so that patients, students and daily commuters get convenience in transportation. Mahanagar Electric Bus Operating Committee said that keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers, the trips have been increased. The fare will remain the same as before.

Up to 6-10 km: Rs 20

Recently e-buses were run to rural areas like Sahjanwan, Sikriganj, Kodiram, Gagaha etc. Due to this there was shortage of buses on busy routes of the city. Now new buses have started running in rural areas, hence e-buses are again being concentrated on the main routes of the city.
25 new buses, fleet will increase to 100
At present, 25 electric buses are running daily on different routes in the city, through which about 12 thousand passengers are traveling. The committee plans to include 25 new e-buses soon. The target is to operate a total of 100 electric buses in Gorakhpur in future.
Mobile App and One UP-One Card for passengers
A mobile app is being prepared for the convenience of passengers, in which information about the live location, route and arrival time of the bus will be available. Testing of the app is ongoing and if successful it will be made public. According to committee officials, ‘One UP-One Card’ will also be provided to the passengers. The card will be free, only recharge of Rs 100 will have to be done for the first time. After this, passengers will be able to recharge it as per their convenience.
