For some reason, if the employee’s date of exit could not be updated by the employer, then the withdrawal or transfer of funds from the EPF was stuck. Now PF account holders can themselves update the date of exit in the EPFO system. This work goes online and it is also easy to do. You can also update the date of exit in the system by adopting this method.

>> First of all, open https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ on mobile or computer. Then log in by entering UAN, password and captcha. Remember that your UAN must be active.
>> Now on the newly opened page, click on the ‘Manage’ tab in the section above. After this, select the mark exit option. After this, the ‘Select Employment’ dropdown will open in front of you.
>> Select the old PF account number in the dropdown. It must be linked to UAN. You will see the details related to that PF account and job on the screen. Now you have to enter the date and reason for leaving the job. Reasons for leaving the job will be options like retirement, short service.
>> Choose your option and click on request OTP. OTP will be sent to your Aadhar card linked mobile number. Submit the request by putting OTP in the specified space. After the process is complete, the date of leaving the job, the message will be recorded on the PF account.

If you leave the job immediately, then the date of exit will be after 2 months
Once the date of exit is updated in the EPFO system, it cannot be changed. Also keep in mind that if you have left the job recently, then you will have to wait for 2 months to update the date of exit. This is because the Date of Exit Member Employee’s PF can be updated only 2 months after the last contribution from the employer.
