New Delhi. NCRTC has inducted a high-speed catenary maintenance vehicle (CMV) into the Namo Bharat fleet for maintenance of the Namo Bharat corridor. Through this CMV, inspection and maintenance work on the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor can be done faster and more efficiently. This special vehicle will play a special role in ensuring this. This will improve the overhead power supply system supporting the operations of Namo Bharat trains.
This maintenance vehicle, the first of its kind, is designed for a speed of 120 kmph and has an operational speed of 110 kmph. For the first time in the country, this CMV has been integrated with the signaling system, i.e. ETCS Level 2 Hybrid Level 3 Signaling of NaMo India, which is being used in this project for the first time in the world. This enables operation of this vehicle in automatic train protection mode and enables fast and safe inspection and maintenance throughout the corridor. This CMV, indigenously manufactured in Uttarakhand, was recently loaded on a trailer and brought by road to Namo Bharat Depot in Duhai, Ghaziabad, where it was lowered onto the track by a crane.
These services start from 5.30 am and the last train is available by 11 pm. Due to this, the team gets very little time for maintenance and improvement works of the corridor. Apart from this, Namo Bharat is a regional rail, compared to other urban services, its corridor is also long i.e. 82 km, with stations located at a distance of 5-10 km. This means that maintenance work needs to be carried out quickly, efficiently and accurately wherever required along the entire corridor. The faster speed of this new CMV will ensure that the maintenance team can reach any point on the corridor where needed more quickly.
By quickly identifying and resolving any OHE issue, this CMV directly helps in enhancing the reliability of Namo Bharat train service for the passengers. With this, trains will run on fixed time.
