Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar questioned whether Gautam Gambhir would carry forward the tradition of Rahul Dravid, who was the first coach from him, who had opted to take cash prizes equal to his support staff after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. However, Gambhir has not yet made any statement on this.

Gavaskar praised the BCCI for winning the Champions Trophy and wrote that, ‘Now after our boys won the Champions Trophy, the BCCI has declared an amount of Rs 58 crore for the team and the cooperative staff. In July last year, after a stunning victory in the T20 World Cup, the BCCI announced Rs 125 crore for the team, associate staff and selectors.
